PR given by Corez Some pretty old articles I wrote for the magazine at ProVision, hope you guys learn something from them.
What I've always wanted to do is make my own brushes in PhotoShop. But, it wasn't until recently that I finally came around to doing it. It's actually quite simple. So, for this article I'm going to explain how I get around to making a brush pack/set/whatever you want to call it.
Firstly, I'll be using PS CS2.
Open PS and make a file, 400x400 is good. I'm going to keep it simple, so just grab any tool you want to make a simple shape that want to be turned into a brush. I'll just grab the pen tool and make a random shape.
Now go to Edit > Define Brush Preset.. and a window should pop-up with your brush, like so:
Give the brush whatever name you desire.
If you want you can check to see if your brush is in the current set of brushes: click.
Now, go to Edit > Preset Manager.. and select the brushes you want to have in your new brush set/pack (using Ctrl + left click on the ones you want, to select more then one). Once you're done with that click on "Save Set.." on the right, below the Load button. Give the set a name and your ready!
