PC version Review
Story: A Prequel to the first Deus Ex, this is set in the year 2027 where Mechcanical Augmentation has became the latest trend leading to many ethical issues. You play as Adam Jensen a security officer who was an ex-cop who becomes augmented after a break in on the company he works for. This leads to him trying to hunt for the reasons behind the attack and over the course of the game discovers much more.
Gameplay: The game plays like most FPS games but then adds RPG like elements with the story, missions, and how the inventory and augmentations you can unlock are managed. Your objectives are highlighted and marked (however you can turn it off in the options if you find it distracting on your HUD) The inventory is diablo like and is similar to deus ex 1. The augmentations are the more unique part of this game where you gain exp by completing missions and searching around etc. and can give yourself abilities like cloak, punch through walls and social enhancement (allowing persuasion in conversations). The game allows you to play a few defferent styles, the main two being combat driven (getting into firefights) and the other being stealth (with a KO takedown but can also kill takedown). The stealth tends to be more rewarding exp wise.
Graphics: The graphics in this game are quite impressive, the models look very good, the environments are very pretty especially the detroit and hengsha city hubs. I tend to find myself really liking some of the guns models especially the pistol and revolver.
Sounds: The sounds in the game are quite good, I will admit some of the accents can sound a little inaccurate (one of the hengsha weapons sellers comes to mind) but overall it's not too bad really. Some voices sound great for the character. The music in the game is amazing, its a ambient soundtrack for the most part but in combat (if you choose to firefight) changes to a more dominant track. The ending credits theme is definitely a favourite.
Difficulty: I played on the middle difficulty but to be honest since I played stealth for the exp bonus it would have made no difference. I found if you choose to play a combat style you need to be well prepared given how fast the groups of enemies can kill you in that situation. The difficulty I find depends completely on playstyle.
Multiplayer: There is none. So I can't really say much.
Downsides: Only downsides I found were that not too many things you did changed that dialogue like in the first game but then again that doesn't bother me much at all. I found some weapons were insanely huge in your inventory making it hard to carry all the weapons you want but I'd say that's a personal preference for me. Other then a few funny accents theres really nothing worth complaining about, this game was done very well although I am a little bias given I love the Deus Ex series.
DLC: The DLC for this game has a few things, 2 extra weapon packs which give you a few more weapons items and even another side quest for more exp.
The other DLC is a whole new Single Player campaign which if I'm not mistaken can actually be purchased without the original game. It takes place between a spot much later in the game where a gap of 3 days happens and fits in quite well I think.
Would I Recommend It: Yes, I think it was well worth the money. If your into a more story based FPS with RPG elements then checking this out isn't a bad idea.
